According to the Vedic calendar, the Amavasya date of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month will start on 27 April at 4:49 am and it will end the next day, 28 April at 1:00 am. For this reason, the festival of Vaishakh Amavasya will be celebrated on 27 April.
Importance of donation on Vaishakh Amavasya
Donating food and water is considered to be of great importance on Vaishakh Amavasya. It is said that by donating food and water on this holy day, a person gets the same virtue as doing pilgrimage. Therefore, on this day, along with feeding the poor and helpless people, give water to the people and arrange for a drinking water stall for passersby. By doing this, the blessings of God remain on the seekers and the souls of their ancestors get peace.
